«الأخلاقيات» (Moralia): الشطر غير السِّيَري من أعمال بلوتارخ، نحو ستين رسالةً ومحاورةً في كل شيءٍ تقريبًا، من كيف تُقرأ أشعار الشعراء إلى لماذا صمتت العرافات.
السياق والتاريخ
وهي الكفّة المقابلة لـ«السِّيَر المتوازية»، وكثيرون لا يعلمون بوجودها. كان بلوتارخ كاهنًا في دلفي وأفلاطونيَّ المذهب، وهو يكتب كما يتحدّث رجلٌ مثقّف: ففيها نصائح في الصداقة وفي تمييز المتملّق من الصديق، ورسالةٌ في الغضب، وأخرى في طمأنينة النفس، وصفحاتٌ في تربية الأبناء، وفي هل تعقل البهائم، و«أحاديث المائدة»، وهي حرفيًا أحاديث ما بعد الطعام. وقد قرأه مونتاني عمره كلّه، وله عليه فضلٌ كبير في نبرة «المقالات». ويحسن العلم بأن المجموعة متنوّعة متفاوتة، وأن بعض ما يجري فيها من رسائل ليس له.
