الشكل هو الحجة: القاموس يُستشار ولا يُقرأ من أوله إلى آخره، وذلك ما جعل دحضه ككلٍّ مستحيلاً وتداوله سرّاً سهلاً. نشره ﭬولتير بلا اسم سنة 1764 وأُحرق في جنيف وفي باريس. ملاحظة بشأن الطبعة: في الفهرس **طبعتان** لـ«القاموس الفلسفي» — هذه في عشرة مجلدات، وأخرى في مجلد واحد بعنوان «Voltaire's Philosophical Dictionary». وليستا تكراراً: هما مختارات وترجمتان مختلفتان، والمواد لا تتقابل واحدةً بواحدة. والأصل فرنسي.
