Context i història
Un nen creix sol en una illa deserta i, sense mestre ni llengua ni revelació, arriba pel seu compte a la física, a la metafísica i al coneixement de Déu. Escrita al segle XII a al-Àndalus. Traduïda al llatí el 1671, va ser llegida per Locke i per Defoe: és l'avantpassat de *Robinson Crusoe* i, alhora, un argument sobre què pot la raó sola.
