Context i història
Convé saber-ho abans de començar: al catàleg hi ha DUES edicions diferents de les Vides, aquesta en quatre volums i una altra en un de sol. No són obres diferents ni es complementen; són el mateix text en presentacions distintes, i la partió en volums és de l'editor, no de Plutarc, que va escriure parelles de vides independents. Per citar-lo, el costum és donar el nom del personatge i el capítol —«Alexandre 1»—, que val en qualsevol edició.
Context editorial, no una font citable: a diferència dels passatges de l'obra, aquestes dades no es poden contrastar amb el corpus.
