Matt 26:39 And going a little further, he fell upon his face, praying and saying: My Father, if it be possible, let this chalice pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will but as thou wilt. Matt 26:40 And he cometh to his disciples and findeth them asleep. And he saith to Peter: What? Could you not watch one hour with me? Matt 26:41 Watch ye: and pray that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matt 26:42 Again the second time, he went and prayed, saying: My Father, if this chalice may not pass away, but I must drink it, thy will be done. Matt 26:43 And he cometh again and findeth them sleeping: for their eyes were heavy. Matt 26:44 And leaving them, he went again: and he prayed the third time, saying the selfsame word. Matt 26:45 Then he cometh to his disciples and said to them: Sleep ye now and take your rest. Behold the hour is at hand: and the Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of sinners. Matt 26:46 Rise: let us go. Behold he is at hand that will betray me. Matt 26:47 As he yet spoke, behold Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the ancients of the people.
Matt 26:48 And he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying: Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he. Hold him fast. Matt 26:49 And forthwith coming to Jesus, he said: Hail, Rabbi. And he kissed him. Matt 26:50 And Jesus said to him: Friend, whereto art thou come? Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and held him. Matt 26:51 And behold one of them that were with Jesus, stretching forth his hand, drew out his sword: and striking the servant of the high priest, cut off his ear. Matt 26:52 Then Jesus saith to him: Put up again thy sword into its place: for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Matt 26:53 Thinkest thou that I cannot ask my Father, and he will give me presently more than twelve legions of angels? Matt 26:54 How then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that so it must be done? Matt 26:55 In that same hour, Jesus said to the multitudes: You are come out, as it were to a robber, with swords and clubs to apprehend me. I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple: and you laid not hands on me. Matt 26:56 Now all this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then the disciples, all leaving him, fled.
Matt 26:57 But they holding Jesus led him to Caiphas the high priest, where the scribes and the ancients were assembled. Matt 26:58 And Peter followed him afar off, even to the court of the high priest, And going in, he sat with the servants, that he might see the end. Matt 26:59 And the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death. Matt 26:60 And they found not, whereas many false witnesses had come in. And last of all there came two false witnesses: Matt 26:61 And they said: This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God and after three days to rebuild it. Matt 26:62 And the high priest rising up, said to him: Answerest thou nothing to the things which these witness against thee? Matt 26:63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest said to him: I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us if thou be the Christ the Son of God. Matt 26:64 Jesus saith to him: Thou hast said it. Nevertheless I say to you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of the power of God and coming in the clouds of heaven. Matt 26:65 Then the high priest rent his garments, saying: He hath blasphemed: What further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard the blasphemy. Matt 26:66 What think you? But they answering, said: He is guilty of death.
Matt 26:67 Then did they spit in his face and buffeted him. And others struck his face with the palms of their hands, Matt 26:68 Saying: Prophesy unto us, O Christ. Who is he that struck thee? Matt 26:69 But Peter sat without in the court. And there came to him a servant maid, saying: Thou also wast with Jesus the Galilean. Matt 26:70 But he denied before them all, saying: I know not what thou sayest. Matt 26:71 And as he went out of the gate, another maid saw him; and she saith to them that were there: This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth. Matt 26:72 And again he denied with an oath: I know not the man. Matt 26:73 And after a little while, they came that stood by and said to Peter: Surely thou also art one of them. For even thy speech doth discover thee. Matt 26:74 Then he began to curse and to swear that he knew not the man. And immediately the cock crew. Matt 26:75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus which he had said: Before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And going forth, he wept bitterly. Matt 27:1 And when morning was come, all the chief priests and ancients of the people took counsel against Jesus, that they might put him to death. Matt 27:2 And they brought him bound and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Matt 27:3 Then Judas, who betrayed him, seeing that he was condemned, repenting himself, brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and ancients, Matt 27:4 Saying: I have sinned in betraying innocent blood. But they said: What is that to us? Look thou to it. Matt 27:5 And casting down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed and went and hanged himself with an halter. Matt 27:6 But the chief priests having taken the pieces of silver, said: It is not lawful to put them into the corbona, because it is the price of blood. Matt 27:7 And after they had consulted together, they bought with them the potter's field, to be a burying place for strangers. Matt 27:8 For this cause that field was called Haceldama, that is, the field of blood, even to this day. Matt 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremias the prophet, saying: And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was prized, whom they prized of the children of Israel. Matt 27:10 And they gave them unto the potter's field, as the Lord appointed to me. Matt 27:11 And Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, saying: Art thou the king of the Jews? Jesus saith to him: Thou sayest it.
Matt 27:12 And when he was accused by the chief priests and ancients, he answered nothing. Matt 27:13 Then Pilate saith to him: Dost not thou hear how great testimonies they allege against thee? Matt 27:14 And he answered him to never a word, so that the governor wondered exceedingly. Matt 27:15 Now upon the solemn day the governor was accustomed to release to the people one prisoner, whom they would. Matt 27:16 And he had then a notorious prisoner that was called Barabbas. Matt 27:17 They therefore being gathered together, Pilate said: Whom will you that I release to You: Barabbas, or Jesus that is called Christ? Matt 27:18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. Matt 27:19 And as he was sitting in the place of judgment, his wife sent to him, saying: Have thou nothing to do with that just man; for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him. Matt 27:20 But the chief priests and ancients persuaded the people that they should ask Barabbas and make Jesus away. Matt 27:21 And the governor answering, said to them: Whether will you of the two to be released unto you? But they said: Barabbas. Matt 27:22 Pilate saith to them: What shall I do then with Jesus that is called Christ? They say all: Let him be crucified.
Matt 27:23 The governor said to them: Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying: Let him be crucified. Matt 27:24 And Pilate seeing that he prevailed nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, taking water washed his hands before the people, saying: I am innocent of the blood of this just man. Look you to it. Matt 27:25 And the whole people answering, said: His blood be upon us and upon our children. Matt 27:26 Then he released to them Barabbas: and having scourged Jesus, delivered him unto them to be crucified. Matt 27:27 Then the soldiers of the governor, taking Jesus into the hall, gathered together unto him the whole band. Matt 27:28 And stripping him, they put a scarlet cloak about him. Matt 27:29 And platting a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand. And bowing the knee before him, they mocked him, saying: Hail, King of the Jews. Matt 27:30 And spitting upon him, they took the reed and struck his head. Matt 27:31 And after they had mocked him, they took off the cloak from him and put on him his own garments and led him away to crucify him. Matt 27:32 And going out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they forced to take up his cross.
Matt 27:33 And they came to the place that is called Golgotha, which is the place of Calvary. Matt 27:34 And they gave him wine to drink mingled with gall. And when he had tasted, he would not drink. Matt 27:35 And after they had crucified him, they divided his garments, casting lots; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: They divided my garments among them; and upon my vesture they cast lots. Matt 27:36 And they sat and watched him. Matt 27:37 And they put over his head his cause written: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. Matt 27:38 Then were crucified with him two thieves: one on the right hand and one on the left. Matt 27:39 And they that passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, Matt 27:40 And saying: Vah, thou that destroyest the temple of God and in three days dost rebuild it: save thy own self. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. Matt 27:41 In like manner also the chief priests, with the scribes and ancients, mocking said: Matt 27:42 He saved others: himself he cannot save. If he be the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross: and we will believe him. Matt 27:43 He trusted in God: let him now deliver him if he will have him. For he said: I am the Son of God.
Matt 27:44 And the selfsame thing the thieves also that were crucified with him reproached him with. Matt 27:45 Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the whole earth, until the ninth hour. Matt 27:46 And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying: Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani? That is, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? Matt 27:47 And some that stood there and heard said: This man calleth Elias. Matt 27:48 And immediately one of them running took a sponge and filled it with vinegar and put it on a reed and gave him to drink. Matt 27:49 And the others said: Let be. Let us see whether Elias will come to deliver him. Matt 27:50 And Jesus again crying with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. Matt 27:51 And behold the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top even to the bottom: and the earth quaked and the rocks were rent. Matt 27:52 And the graves were opened: and many bodies of the saints that had slept arose, Matt 27:53 And coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, came into the holy city and appeared to many.
Matt 27:54 Now the centurion and they that were with him watching Jesus, having seen the earthquake and the things that were done, were sore afraid, saying: Indeed this was the Son of God. Matt 27:55 And there were there many women afar off, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: Matt 27:56 Among whom was Mary Magdalen and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee. Matt 27:57 And when it was evening, there came a certain rich man of Arimathea, named Joseph, who also himself was a disciple of Jesus. Matt 27:58 He went to Pilate and asked the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded that the body should be delivered. Matt 27:59 And Joseph taking the body wrapped it up in a clean linen cloth: Matt 27:60 And laid it in his own new monument, which he had hewed out in a rock. And he rolled a great stone to the door of the monument and went his way. Matt 27:61 And there was there Mary Magdalen and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre. Matt 27:62 And the next day, which followed the day of preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees came together to Pilate, Matt 27:63 Saying: Sir, we have remembered, that that seducer said, while he was yet alive: After three days I will rise again.
Matt 27:64 Command therefore the sepulchre to be guarded until the third day: lest perhaps his disciples come and steal him away and say to the people: He is risen from the dead. And the last error shall be worse than the first. Matt 27:65 Pilate saith to them: You have a guard. Go, guard it as you know. Matt 27:66 And they departing, made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone and setting guards. Matt 28:1 And in the end of the sabbath, when it began to dawn towards the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalen and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre. Matt 28:2 And behold there was a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and coming rolled back the stone and sat upon it. Matt 28:3 And his countenance was as lightning and his raiment as snow. Matt 28:4 And for fear of him, the guards were struck with terror and became as dead men. Matt 28:5 And the angel answering, said to the women: Fear not you: for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. Matt 28:6 He is not here. For he is risen, as he said. Come, and see the place where the Lord was laid.
Matt 28:7 And going quickly, tell ye his disciples that he is risen. And behold he will go before you into Galilee. There you shall see him. Lo, I have foretold it to you. Matt 28:8 And they went out quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy, running to tell his disciples. Matt 28:9 And behold, Jesus met them, saying: All hail. But they came up and took hold of his feet and adored him. Matt 28:10 Then Jesus said to them: Fear not. Go, tell my brethren that they go into Galilee. There they shall see me. Matt 28:11 Who when they were departed, behold, some of the guards came into the city and told the chief priests all things that had been done. Matt 28:12 And they being assembled together with the ancients, taking counsel, gave a great sum of money to the soldiers, Matt 28:13 Saying: Say you, His disciples came by night and stole him away when we were asleep. Matt 28:14 And if the governor shall hear of this, we will persuade him and secure you. Matt 28:15 So they taking the money, did as they were taught: and this word was spread abroad among the Jews even unto this day. Matt 28:16 And the eleven disciples went into Galilee, unto the mountain where Jesus had appointed them. Matt 28:17 And seeing him they adored: but some doubted.
Matt 28:18 And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Matt 28:19 Going therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Matt 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.
Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Mark 1:2 As it is written in Isaias the prophet: Behold I send my angel before thy face, who shall prepare the way before thee. Mark 1:3 A voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord; make straight his paths. Mark 1:4 John was in the desert, baptizing and preaching the baptism of penance, unto remission of sins. Mark 1:5 And there went out to him all the country of Judea and all they of Jerusalem and were baptized by him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. Mark 1:6 And John was clothed camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins: and he ate locusts and wild honey. Mark 1:7 And he preached, saying: There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. Mark 1:8 I have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. Mark 1:9 And it came to pass, in those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in Jordan. Mark 1:10 And forthwith coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens open and the Spirit as a dove descending and remaining on him. Mark 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven: Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. Mark 1:12 And immediately the Spirit drove him out into the desert. Mark 1:13 And he was in the desert forty days and forty nights, and was tempted by Satan. And he was with beasts: and the angels ministered to him.
Mark 1:14 And after that John was delivered up, Jesus came in Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, Mark 1:15 And saying: The time is accomplished and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the gospel: Mark 1:16 And passing by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother, casting nets into the sea for they were fishermen. Mark 1:17 And Jesus said to them: Come after me; and I will make you to become fishers of men. Mark 1:18 And immediately leaving their nets, they followed him. Mark 1:19 And going on from thence a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who also were mending their nets in the ship: Mark 1:20 And forthwith he called them. And leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with his hired men, they followed him. Mark 1:21 And they entered into Capharnaum: and forthwith upon the sabbath days going into the synagogue, he taught them. Mark 1:22 And they were astonished at his doctrine. For he was teaching them as one having power, and not as the scribes. Mark 1:23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Mark 1:24 Saying: What have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, the Holy One of God.
Mark 1:25 And Jesus threatened him, saying: Speak no more, and go out of the man. Mark 1:26 And the unclean spirit, tearing him and crying out with a loud voice, went out of him. Mark 1:27 And they were all amazed insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying: What thing is this? What is this new doctrine? For with power he commandeth even the unclean spirits: and they obey him. Mark 1:28 And the fame of him was spread forthwith into all the country of Galilee. Mark 1:29 And immediately going out of the synagogue they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Mark 1:30 And Simon's wife's mother lay in a fit of a fever: and forthwith they tell him of her. Mark 1:31 And coming to her, he lifted her up, taking her by the hand; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. Mark 1:32 And when it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all that were ill and that were possessed with devils. Mark 1:33 And all the city was gathered together at the door. Mark 1:34 And he healed many that were troubled with divers diseases. And he cast out many devils: and he suffered them not to speak, because they knew him. Mark 1:35 And rising very early, going out, he went into a desert place: and there he prayed.
Mark 1:36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. Mark 1:37 And when they had found him, they said to him: All seek for thee. Mark 1:38 And he saith to them: Let us go into the neighbouring towns and cities, that I may preach there also; for to this purpose am I come. Mark 1:39 And he was preaching in their synagogues and in all Galilee and casting out devils. Mark 1:40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him and kneeling down, said to him: If thou wilt thou canst make me clean. Mark 1:41 And Jesus, having compassion on him, stretched forth his hand and touching him saith to him: I will. Be thou made clean. Mark 1:42 And when he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him: and he was made clean. Mark 1:43 And he strictly charged him and forthwith sent him away. Mark 1:44 And he saith to him: See thou tell no one; but go, shew thyself to the high priest and offer for thy cleansing the things that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them. Mark 1:45 But he being gone out, began to publish and to blaze abroad the word: so that he could not openly go into the city. but was without in desert places. And they flocked to him from all sides. Mark 2:1 And again he entered into Capharnaum after some days.
Mark 2:2 And it was heard that he was in the house. And many came together, so that there was no room: no, not even at the door. And he spoke to them the word. Mark 2:3 And they came to him, bringing one sick of the palsy, who was carried by four. Mark 2:4 And when they could not offer him unto him for the multitude, they uncovered the roof where he was: and opening it, they let down the bed wherein the man sick of the palsy lay. Mark 2:5 And when Jesus had seen their faith, he saith to the sick of the palsy: Son, thy sins are forgiven thee. Mark 2:6 And there were some of the scribes sitting there and thinking in their hearts: Mark 2:7 Why doth this man speak thus? He blasphemeth. Who can forgive sins, but God only? Mark 2:8 Which Jesus presently knowing in his spirit that they so thought within themselves, saith to them: Why think you these things in your hearts? Mark 2:9 Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy: Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say: Arise, take up thy bed and walk? Mark 2:10 But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins (he saith to the sick of the palsy): Mark 2:11 I say to thee: Arise. Take up thy bed and go into thy house.
Mark 2:12 And immediately he arose and, taking up his bed, went his way in the sight of all: so that all wondered and glorified God, saying: We never saw the like. Mark 2:13 And he went forth again to the sea side: and all the multitude came to him. And he taught them. Mark 2:14 And when he was passing by, he saw Levi, the son of Alpheus, sitting at the receipt of custom; and he saith to him: Follow me. And rising up, he followed him. Mark 2:15 And it came to pass as he sat at meat in his house, many Publicans and sinners sat down together with Jesus and his disciples. For they were many, who also followed him. Mark 2:16 And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing that he ate with publicans and sinners, said to his disciples: Why doth your master eat and drink with publicans and sinners? Mark 2:17 Jesus hearing this, saith to them: They that are well have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. For I came not to call the just, but sinners. Mark 2:18 And the disciples of John and the Pharisees used to fast. And they come and say to him: Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast; but thy disciples do not fast?
Mark 2:19 And Jesus saith to them: Can the children of the marriage fast, as long as the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. Mark 2:20 But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them: and then they shall fast in those days. Mark 2:21 No man seweth a piece of raw cloth to an old garment: otherwise the new piecing taketh away from the old, and there is made a greater rent. Mark 2:22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: otherwise the wine will burst the bottles, and both the wine will be spilled and the bottles will be lost. But new wine must be put into new bottles. Mark 2:23 And it came to pass again, as the Lord walked through the corn fields on the sabbath, that his disciples began to go forward and to pluck the ears of corn. Mark 2:24 And the Pharisees said to him: Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? Mark 2:25 And he said to them: Have you never read what David did when he had need and was hungry, himself and they that were with him? Mark 2:26 How he went into the house of God, under Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the loaves of proposition, which was not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave to them who were with him?
Mark 2:27 And he said to them: The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath. Mark 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord of the sabbath also. Mark 3:1 And he entered again into the synagogue: and there was a man there who had a withered hand. Mark 3:2 And they watched him whether he would heal on the sabbath days, that they might accuse him. Mark 3:3 And he said to the man who had the withered hand: Stand up in the midst. Mark 3:4 And he saith to them: Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? To save life, or to destroy? But they held their peace. Mark 3:5 And looking round about on them with anger, being grieved for the blindness of their hearts, he saith to the man: Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth: and his hand was restored unto him. Mark 3:6 And the Pharisees going out, immediately made a consultation with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him. Mark 3:7 But Jesus retired with his disciples to the sea; and a great multitude followed him from Galilee and Judea, Mark 3:8 And from Jerusalem, and from Idumea and from beyond the Jordan. And they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, hearing the things which he did, came to him.
Mark 3:9 And he spoke to his disciples that a small ship should wait on him, because of the multitude, lest they should throng him. Mark 3:10 For he healed many, so that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had evils. Mark 3:11 And the unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him: and they cried, saying: Mark 3:12 Thou art the Son of God. And he strictly charged them that they should not make him known. Mark 3:13 And going up into a mountain, he called unto him whom he would himself: and they came to him. Mark 3:14 And he made that twelve should be with him, and that he might send them to preach. Mark 3:15 And he gave them power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils. Mark 3:16 And to Simon he gave the name Peter: Mark 3:17 And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he named them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder. Mark 3:18 And Andrew and Philip, and Bartholomew and Matthew, and Thomas and James of Alpheus, and Thaddeus and Simon the Cananean: Mark 3:19 And Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. Mark 3:20 And they come to a house, and the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
Mark 3:21 And when his friends had heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him. For they said: He is become mad. Mark 3:22 And the scribes who were come down from Jerusalem, said: He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of devils he casteth out devils. Mark 3:23 And after he had called them together, he said to them in parables: How can Satan cast out Satan? Mark 3:24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. Mark 3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. Mark 3:26 And if Satan be risen up against himself, he is divided, and cannot stand, but hath an end. Mark 3:27 No man can enter into the house of a strong man and rob him of his goods, unless he first bind the strong man, and then shall he plunder his house. Mark 3:28 Amen I say to you that all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and the blasphemies wherewith they shall blaspheme: Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness, but shall be guilty of an everlasting sin. Mark 3:30 Because they said: He hath an unclean spirit. Mark 3:31 And his mother and his brethren came; and standing without, sent unto him, calling him. Mark 3:32 And the multitude sat about him; and they say to him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
Mark 3:33 And answering them, he said: Who is my mother and my brethren? Mark 3:34 And looking round about on them who sat about him, he saith: Behold my mother and my brethren. Mark 3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, he is my brother, and my sister, and mother. Mark 4:1 And again he began to teach by the sea side; and a great multitude was gathered together unto him, so that he went up into a ship and sat in the sea: and all the multitude was upon the land by the sea side. Mark 4:2 And he taught them many things in parables, and said unto them in his doctrine: Mark 4:3 Hear ye: Behold, the sower went out to sow. Mark 4:4 And whilst he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and ate it up. Mark 4:5 And other some fell upon stony ground, where it had not much earth; and it shot up immediately, because it had no depth of earth. Mark 4:6 And when the sun was risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. Mark 4:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
Mark 4:8 And some fell upon good ground; and brought forth fruit that grew up, and increased and yielded, one thirty, another sixty, and another a hundred. Mark 4:9 And he said: He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Mark 4:10 And when he was alone, the twelve that were with him asked him the parable. Mark 4:11 And he said to them: To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but to them that are without, all things are done in parables: Mark 4:12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. Mark 4:13 And he saith to them: Are you ignorant of this, parable? and how shall you know all parables? Mark 4:14 He that soweth, soweth the word. Mark 4:15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown, and as soon as they have heard, immediately Satan cometh and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. Mark 4:16 And these likewise are they that are sown on the stony ground: who when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy. Mark 4:17 And they have no root in themselves, but are only for a time: and then when tribulation and persecution ariseth for the word they are presently scandalized.
Mark 4:18 And others there are who are sown among thorns: these are they that hear the word, Mark 4:19 And the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts after other things entering in choke the word, and it is made fruitless. Mark 4:20 And these are they who are sown upon the good ground, who hear the word, and receive it, and yield fruit, the one thirty, another sixty, and another a hundred. Mark 4:21 And he said to them: Doth a candle come in to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? Mark 4:22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be made manifest: neither was it made secret, but that it may come abroad. Mark 4:23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. Mark 4:24 And he said to them: Take heed what you hear. In what measure you shall mete, it shall be measured to you again, and more shall be given to you. Mark 4:25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, that also which he hath shall be taken away from him. Mark 4:26 And he said: So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the earth, Mark 4:27 And should sleep, and rise, night and day, and the seed should spring, and grow up whilst he knoweth not.
Mark 4:28 For the earth of itself bringeth forth fruit, first the blade, then the ear, afterwards the full corn in the ear. Mark 4:29 And when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. Mark 4:30 And he said: To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? or to what parable shall we compare it? Mark 4:31 It is as a grain of mustard seed: which when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that are in the earth: Mark 4:32 And when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches, so that the birds of the air may dwell under the shadow thereof. Mark 4:33 And with many such parables, he spoke to them the word, according as they were able to hear. Mark 4:34 And without parable he did not speak unto them; but apart, he explained all things to his disciples. Mark 4:35 And he saith to them that day, when evening was come: Let us pass over to the other side. Mark 4:36 And sending away the multitude, they take him even as he was in the ship: and there were other ships with him. Mark 4:37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that the ship was filled.
Mark 4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, sleeping upon a pillow; and they awake him, and say to him: Master, doth, it not concern thee that we perish? Mark 4:39 And rising up, he rebuked the wind, and said to the sea: Peace, be still. And the wind ceased: and there was made a great calm. Mark 4:40 And he said to them: Why are you fearful? have you not faith yet? And they feared exceedingly: and they said one to another: Who is this (thinkest thou) that both wind and sea obey him? Mark 5:1 And they came over the strait of the sea, into the country of the Gerasens. Mark 5:2 And as he went out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the monuments a man with an unclean spirit, Mark 5:3 Who had his dwelling in the tombs, and no man now could bind him, not even with chains. Mark 5:4 For having been often bound with fetters and chains, he had burst the chains, and broken the fetters in pieces, and no one could tame him. Mark 5:5 And he was always day and night in the monuments and in the mountains, crying and cutting himself with stones. Mark 5:6 And seeing Jesus afar off, he ran and adored him.
Mark 5:7 And crying with a loud voice, he said: What have I to do with thee, Jesus the Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God that thou torment me not. Mark 5:8 For he said unto him: Go out of the man, thou unclean spirit. Mark 5:9 And he asked him: What is thy name? And he saith to him: My name is Legion, for we are many. Mark 5:10 And he besought him much, that he would not drive him away out of the country. Mark 5:11 And there was there near the mountain a great herd of swine, feeding. Mark 5:12 And the spirits besought him, saying: Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. Mark 5:13 And Jesus immediately gave them leave. And the unclean spirits going out, entered into the swine: and the herd with great violence was carried headlong into the sea, being about two thousand, were stifled in the sea. Mark 5:14 And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city and in the fields. And they went out to see what was done: Mark 5:15 And they came to Jesus, and they see him that was troubled with the devil, sitting, clothed, and well in his wits, and they were afraid. Mark 5:16 And they that had seen it, told them, in what manner he had been dealt with who had the devil; and concerning the swine. Mark 5:17 And they began to pray him that he would depart from their coasts.
