السياق والتاريخ
بدأ تسڤينغلي الوعظ في زيوريخ سنة 1519، بعد قضايا لوثر بسنتين، وكان يُصرّ على أنه بلغ موقفه بقراءة إيرازموس والعهد الجديد باليونانية، لا بقراءة لوثر. و«موادّه السبع والستون» سنة 1523 هي برنامج الإصلاح السويسري. أما نقطة القطيعة فكانت القربان: فعند لوثر جسدُ المسيح حاضرٌ فيه حضورًا حقيقيًا؛ وعند تسڤينغلي عبارةُ «هذا هو جسدي» مجازٌ، والسرّ تذكار. وقد التقيا في ماربورغ سنة 1529 فلم يتّفقا، وما زال ذلك الانقسام قائمًا. ومات تسڤينغلي في السابعة والأربعين، والسلاح في يده، في معركةٍ بين الكانتونات الكاثوليكية والمُصلَحة.
