Context i història
És la Bíblia anglesa dels catòlics, feta a l'exili quan traduir-la a Anglaterra era delicte, i tradueix de la Vulgata llatina —no de l'hebreu ni del grec—, cosa que explica el seu vocabulari i que aquí tingui la Vulgata Clementina al costat. La revisió de Challoner (1749-1752) és la que gairebé tothom llegeix: va reescriure una prosa que calcava el llatí fins a fer-se opaca. Porta set llibres que les bíblies protestants no duen, i un Daniel i un Ester més llargs.
Context editorial, no una font citable: a diferència dels passatges de l'obra, aquestes dades no es poden contrastar amb el corpus.
