La República de Ciceró: un diàleg sobre la millor forma d'estat, amb la tesi que ho és la constitució mixta que combina monarquia, aristocràcia i democràcia.
Context i història
Aquest text va estar perdut més de mil anys. El 1819 Angelo Mai el va trobar en un palimpsest del Vaticà, escrit a sota d'un comentari d'Agustí als salms: van raspar Ciceró per reaprofitar el pergamí. Es va recuperar molt incomplet, i s'hi noten els forats. L'excepció és el final, el Somni d'Escipió, que s'havia conservat pel seu compte perquè Macrobi l'havia comentat, i que per això va ser llegit durant tota l'Edat Mitjana quan la resta del llibre no existia.
Context editorial, no una font citable: a diferència dels passatges de l'obra, aquestes dades no es poden contrastar amb el corpus.
