Convé saber que al catàleg hi ha DUES entrades d'aquesta mateixa obra: aquesta i una altra amb el títol llarg. No són llibres diferents. I val la pena repetir el que importa de Diògenes: no era filòsof sinó compilador, barreja el fet comprovable amb l'anècdota i el rumor sense advertir-ho, i tot i així és insubstituïble, perquè de molts filòsofs antics és l'única font que ens ha arribat. Se cita per llibre i secció, no per pàgina.
