El «Zhuangzi», el segon gran text del taoisme despres del «Daodejing», i el mes divertit dels llibres filosofics antics.
Context i història
Escrit segurament al segle IV aC, i probablement no tot per la mateixa ma: els set primers capitols, dits «interiors», son els que la tradicio atribueix a Zhuang Zhou. El llibre no argumenta, explica histories: el cuiner que desfa un bou sense esmolar mai el ganivet perque segueix els buits; el papallo que somia que es un home; l'arbre inutil que per aixo mateix arriba a vell. La tesi de fons es que les distincions amb què tallem el mon —util i inutil, gran i petit, vida i mort— son nostres i no de les coses, i que la saviesa consisteix a moure-s'hi sense enganxar-s'hi. La traduccio de Giles, del 1889, es antiga i li posa un vocabulari victoria que no hi es; es llegeix be i s'ha de citar amb aquesta reserva.
