The Parallel Lives, in Clough's translation.

Contexto e historia

Plutarch pairs a Greek with a Roman — Alexander and Caesar, Demosthenes and Cicero — and compares them at the end of each pair. He is not writing history but **character**: he says outright that a small anecdote reveals the man better than a battle. Half of Shakespeare's Roman plays come from here, and much of what the West thinks it knows about antiquity.

Contexto editorial, no una fuente citable: a diferencia de los pasajes de la obra, estos datos no se pueden comprobar contra el corpus.
