Contexto e historia
La otra fuente antigua sobre Sócrates junto a Platón, y compararlas es lo que se llama el problema socrático: el Sócrates de Jenofonte es práctico, moral y bastante convencional; el de Platón es un metafísico. Cuál se parece más al hombre real se discute desde hace veinticuatro siglos. Nota: esta obra figura dos veces, con el título moderno y con el antiguo «The Memorable Thoughts of Socrates». Conviene decir cuál se cita.
