La «Wissenschaftslehre» di Fichte, del 1794: il primo tentativo di rifare tutta la filosofia di Kant a partire da un unico principio.
Contesto e storia
Il titolo inglese svia un poco: «Wissenschaftslehre» significa dottrina della scienza nel senso di fondamento di ogni sapere, non filosofia delle scienze naturali. Fichte parte da Kant e lo trova incompiuto: se la cosa in sé è inconoscibile, dice, non occorre supporla. Il suo punto di partenza è l'atto per cui l'io pone sé stesso, e di lì deriva, per opposizione e limitazione, il non-io e tutto il resto. È fra i testi più difficili che esistano, e Fichte lo riscrisse molte volte senza esserne mai soddisfatto. Senza di esso non si intendono né Schelling né Hegel. La traduzione di Kroeger è dell'Ottocento e corrisponde alla prima versione, non alle successive.
