Контекст и история
Это первый полный английский перевод, выполненный коллегией евреев для еврейских читателей, и первое, что бросается в глаза, — порядок: Танах идёт Тора, Невиим, Ктувим и завершается не там, где христианский Ветхий Завет. Тот, кто станет искать главы по нумерации христианской Библии, встретит расхождения — это не ошибки, а две традиции членения текста.

9And God said- 'Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear.' And it was so. "And God called the dry land Earth, and the fthering together of the waters called 3 Seas; and God saw that it was good. nAnd God said: 'Let the earth put forth grass, herb yielding seed, and fruit-tree bearing fruit after its kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth.' And it was so.
