Ein Dialog, in dem der Verfasser erklärt, warum er der Weihe entflohen ist, während er seinen Freund hineindrängte. Daraus wird der klassische Traktat darüber, was das Hirtenamt verlangt und warum es furchtbar ist. Chrysostomos («Goldmund») war der größte Prediger der christlichen Antike und endete verbannt, weil er zu deutlich gegen den Hof predigte.
