Kontext und Geschichte
1840 erschienen. Der Satz verlangt eine Präzisierung, die das Buch vornimmt und die man ihm fast nie beifügt: Proudhon greift nicht den Besitz an — das Recht, zu gebrauchen, was man bearbeitet —, sondern das Eigentum als Recht, aus einer Sache Einkommen zu ziehen, ohne sie zu bearbeiten: Rente und Zins. Es ist zudem das erste Buch, in dem sich jemand Anarchist nennt und das Wort für sich beansprucht. Marx lobte es bei Erscheinen und griff es sieben Jahre später scharf an, in einem anderen Buch, das ebenfalls in diesem Katalog steht.
