El «Libro de los muertos» egipcio en la versión del papiro de Ani, del siglo XIII a. C.: el conjunto de fórmulas que debían acompañar al difunto por el mundo de los muertos.
Contexto e historia
El título es de egiptólogos modernos; los egipcios lo llamaban «Libro de la salida al día». No es un libro único ni una escritura sagrada con un texto fijado, sino un repertorio de doscientos y pico capítulos de los que cada papiro copia una selección, encargada y pagada según las posibilidades del difunto. El de Ani, escriba de Tebas, es uno de los más largos y mejor ilustrados que se conservan. El capítulo central es el 125, el juicio: el corazón del muerto se pesa contra la pluma de Maat, y allí el difunto recita la «confesión negativa», la lista de lo que no ha hecho. La traducción de Wallis Budge, de 1895, es la que difundió el texto en occidente, y está muy superada: es fiable como documento histórico de su época, no como lectura filológica actual.
Contexto editorial, no una fuente citable: a diferencia de los pasajes de la obra, estos datos no se pueden comprobar contra el corpus.
