La «Wissenschaftslehre» de Fichte, de 1794: el primer intento de rehacer toda la filosofía de Kant a partir de un único principio.
Contexto e historia
El título inglés despista un poco: «Wissenschaftslehre» significa «doctrina de la ciencia» en el sentido de fundamento de todo saber, no una filosofía de las ciencias naturales. Fichte parte de Kant y lo encuentra inacabado: si la cosa en sí es incognoscible, dice, no hace falta suponerla. Su punto de partida es el acto por el cual el yo se pone a sí mismo, y de ahí deriva, por oposición y limitación, el no-yo y todo lo demás. Es uno de los textos más difíciles que hay, y Fichte lo reescribió muchas veces sin quedar nunca satisfecho. Sin él no se entienden ni Schelling ni Hegel. La traducción de Kroeger es del siglo XIX y corresponde a la primera versión, no a las posteriores.
