यह किस बारे में है
The Catholic Bible in English: the full canon including the deuterocanonical books, translated from Latin at Reims and Douai between 1582 and 1610 and revised by Richard Challoner in the eighteenth century.
संदर्भ और इतिहास
This is the English Bible of Catholics, made in exile at a time when translating it in England was a crime. It renders the Latin Vulgate — not the Hebrew or the Greek — which explains its vocabulary and why the Clementine Vulgate sits beside it here. Challoner's revision (1749-1752) is the one almost everyone reads: he rewrote a prose that tracked the Latin so closely it had become opaque. It carries seven books Protestant Bibles omit, and a longer Daniel and Esther.

Gen 1:8 And God called the firmament, Heaven; and the evening and morning were the second day. Gen 1:9 God also said; Let the waters that are under the heaven, be gathered together into one place: and let the dry land appear. And it was so done. Gen 1:11 And he said: let the earth bring forth green herb, and such as may seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind, which may have seed in itself upon the earth. And it was so done. Gen 1:12 And the earth brought forth the green herb, and such as yieldeth seed according to its kind, and the tree that beareth fruit, having seed each one according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Gen 3:23 And the Lord God sent him out of the paradise of pleasure, to till the earth from which he was taken. Gen 3:24 And he cast out Adam: and placed before the paradise of pleasure Cherubims, and a flaming sword, turning every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. Gen 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; who conceived and brought forth Cain, saying: I have gotten a man through God. Gen 4:2 And again she brought forth his brother Abel.
