दोनों खंडों में यह अधिक पौराणिक है, और इसीलिए इतिहास के रूप में इसे ही सबसे अधिक सावधानी से पढ़ना चाहिए: यह आकाश और पृथ्वी के पृथक् होने से आरंभ होता है और उन शासन-कालों तक उतरता है जिनकी तिथि-गणना किसी सत्यापनीय बात से मेल नहीं खाती। इसे राजदरबार के आदेश से संकलित किया गया और शास्त्रीय चीनी में लिखा गया। यह भी जान लेना चाहिए कि सूची में यही पाठ भूलवश दूसरी बार, लेखक-नाम 'कोजिकी' के नीचे भी दर्ज है: 'कोजिकी' एक भिन्न और उससे पुरानी कृति है।
