アイスキュロスもエウリピデスも同じ話を扱っており、そのことがこれを特別なものにしている。同じ一つの出来事についての三つのギリシア悲劇を比べられるのだ。ソフォクレスではエレクトラが中心にあり、母殺しは問い直されない。英訳であり、ギリシア語原文は目録にない。
