背景与流传

藏文书名的意思是“中阴闻即解脱”:此文是在遗体旁高声诵读的,好让亡者的神识听见,并认出自己正在见到的一切。书中描述接续的三重中阴,有诸光、有寂静诸尊,继而有忿怒诸尊;每一步都重复同一句教示:你所见者即是你自己的心,不必生怖。传统把它归于八世纪的莲花生大士,并说十四世纪由噶玛林巴取出。而“西藏度亡经”这个名字,出自英国编者伊文思-温慈:他一九二七年刊行此书,附以一篇神智学的序言和一批注解,把原文不曾说过的观念投射了进去。荣格后来又为它写了一篇影响深远的心理学评论,那也带着他自己的一套词汇。此处所有的,是一部佛教仪轨文本,而非一般意义上论死亡的著作。
