背景与流传
费希特按人与理性的关系,把人类历史分为五个时代:理性作为本能的时代;外在权威的时代;从一切权威中解放出来的时代——他把自己的时代安放在这里;科学的时代;以及依理性而生活之技艺的时代。他称第三个时代为“罪性完成的状态”,这正是他批评的核心:一个已经摧毁了一切权威、却尚未获得自己的任何知识的时代——因而它什么也不信。这是面向公众的讲演,不必读过《知识学》也能跟得上;《知识学》的难度完全是另一回事。三年之后便有了《对德意志国民的演讲》,该书语料库中亦有。
