De què tracta
Un profeta baixa de la muntanya per anunciar que Déu ha mort i que l'home és una corda tesa cap a una cosa més gran: el llibre més estrany de Nietzsche, mig evangeli, mig poema, tot dinamita.
Context i història
Escrit a raig entre 1883 i 1885, en quatre parts, bona part als estius de Sils-Maria, als Alps suïssos. Nietzsche venia de trencar amb Wagner i de l'episodi de Lou Salomé, i escrivia gairebé sense lectors: de la quarta part se'n van imprimir quaranta còpies privades perquè cap editor no la volia. Paròdia deliberada de l'estil bíblic, conté les seves idees més cèlebres i més malenteses — el superhome, l'etern retorn. La seva fama pòstuma va ser immensa i sovint tòxica: cap llibre seu no ha estat tan citat ni tan tergiversat.
