Non pas un texte d'Épicure mais une reconstruction du XVIIe siècle, faite au moment où l'Angleterre récupérait l'épicurisme après des siècles où le mot était synonyme d'athéisme et de gloutonnerie. C'est un document de cette récupération, non une source pour Épicure.
