Contexte et histoire
Contre les châtiments corporels et contre l'idée d'attendre que l'enfant soit « en âge » : Érasme soutient que l'éducation commence tout de suite et qu'elle doit être un plaisir. C'est l'un des textes qui ont fait l'école moderne, et la netteté avec laquelle il le dit frappe encore. Une traduction anglaise. Le latin d'Érasme, qui est ce qu'il faut citer, n'est au catalogue que dans l'anthologie d'épîtres.
