背景と歴史
体罰に反対し、子どもが「大きくなるまで」待つことにも反対する。エラスムスは、教育はただちに始まるべきであり、楽しみであるべきだと論じる。近代の学校を作った文章の一つであり、彼の言い方の率直さはいまも印象的である。 英訳である。引用すべきエラスムスのラテン語は、目録では書簡選のなかにしかない。
