Contexte et histoire
Il s'ouvre en demandant pourquoi nous voulons la vérité, et pourquoi pas la non-vérité. La réponse est que derrière toute philosophie il y a une biographie et une volonté, et que les philosophes ont pris leurs préjugés pour des démonstrations. La distinction entre morale des maîtres et morale des esclaves est ici, et c'est la partie la plus déformée de toute son œuvre. Traduction anglaise tirée de l'édition complète dirigée par Oscar Levy (1909-1913), celle qui est du domaine public. Elle a plus d'un siècle et cela se voit. L'original est ALLEMAND, et c'est lui qu'il faut citer : le catalogue en contient deux, Also sprach Zarathustra et Der Wille zur Macht ; pour le reste, seule la traduction est ici.

Some adaptations from the original text were made to format it into an e-text. Italics in the original book are capitalized in this e-text, except for most foreign language phrases that were italicized. Original footnotes are put in brackets "[]" at the points where they are cited in the text. Some spellings were altered. "To-day" and "To-morrow" are spelled "today" and "tomorrow."
